Clematis are a popular climbing plant that flowers heavily, with many different colours available.

When planting, any aspect is suitable although they prefer partial sun/shade.

The roots do prefer a cool position so if planting in full sun then use other low growing plants to make shade for he roots. Lighter coloured flowers can bleach in direct sun so consider a darker coloured variety.

In full shade darker colours can become lost so a lighter coloured flower would be more suitable in this position.

The best time plant is spring and for the first year water well and always ensure there is something such as trellis to help the plants grow up and support their weight.
